  1. I refuse to shell out $20 for a new Microsoft brand Zune sync cable, so I took a chance and went for this 3rd party one simply because of the price. This is simply a no hassles product; it does exactly what it’s supposed to do effectively: charge and sync a Zune. Essentially, you get the same product, without the Microsoft name, with the same quality.

It’s not bad for the price. It feels cheaper than Zune’s OEM sync cable. The connector and the cable doesn’t feel as solid as the OEM cable. For the price, it met my expectation. It gets the job done. I’ve had it for 2 months and it still works fine. After I bought this cable, I picked up an Altec Lansing speakers at a deep discount. The speakers charge and sync the Zune (through optional USB cable) as well. The price on Zune accessories have come down a lot. Before you buy this cable, you may want to check out Zune accessory packages that come with a sync cable. This site doesn’t always have the best price. You may need to look around a bit.

It charges up the Zune, but forget about synching content. Two different computers, trying all the USB ports available, and would get to about 50% synch and fail. Still have my original Zune cable and I don’t see this issue. Get what you buy for in this case.

I kept the AC/USB wall unit from an old iPod and have been using it to charge up my 80gb Zune when needed. The Zune sync cable got pinched on the AC side overnight and stopped working, so I decided to buy this replacement. Amazon was having a HUGE sale (05/2009), and I got it for $0.50 with $3.00 shipping – not bad, considering the official unit was selling for $10 on sale (and more than $20 normally!).

    Pros:

-Well-made. The “inspire” cable isn’t as “soft” as the Zune cable, and the side that clips into the Zune holds nicely.

-Functional. Haven’t had a problem charging the Zune (on the pc or with the wall unit) or syncing it with my files.

    Cons:

-Length. It’s about 21 inches shorter than the Zune cable. It’s still plenty long (39 inches), considering the player will likely be sitting on your desk or bed while charging.

-Covers. The Zune package came with pink covers for the ends of the cable. The inspire cable doesn’t. The Zune covers do fit on it though (the USB one being a millimeter short).

-Packaging. The cable looks new and has that “new plastic” smell, but there were one or two hairline scratches and tiny fingerprint marks on the ends when I took it out. Strange…

Overall it was a great deal. Why pay more when these work fine?

Works just as well as my original. Good to have a spare, or in my case one for home, and one for the car. I use it with a usb car charger and it works great.
